The Obstacles in Yoga and the Bad Houses in Traditional Astrology | Where We Lose Sight of Ourselves

There is an interesting connection between the antarayas — or the disturbances of the mind as described in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras — and the topics represented by the bad houses in traditional astrology: the 2nd, 6th, 8th, and 12th.

These four houses describe areas of life where we can become particularly entangled in our circumstances. They can represent experiences that challenge our sense of security, independence, well-being, and control. They can also become places where we lose sight of who we really are.

We may experience hopelessness, feel lost or isolated, doubt ourselves, or become so caught up in the events of our lives that we identify entirely with what is happening to us.
