In a natal chart, there are twelve houses, sometimes called places. Each house contains specific topics related to life in the material realm. Briefly, these include:
1: life, the native, health, vitality
2: money earned and spent, lifestyle, skills developed over time, nourishment that supports life
3: local environment, communication, siblings, extended family
4: parents, home, property, ancestors
5: pleasures, children, entertainment
6: illness, injury, labor, drudgery
7: relationships, enemies
8: death, inheritance, entanglements with others, anxieties
9: religion, spirituality, foreign travel, divination
10: repuation, profession, honors
11: alliances, hopes, wishes for the future
12: isolation, suffering, hidden enemies, self-defeat
THE PLANETS AND SIGNS
There are seven planets in traditional astrology, and each planet is responsible for one or two of the twelve zodiac signs. (The Sun and Moon are designated as planets in astrology. Sometimes they are called the lights or the luminaries.) In the Whole Sign Houses chart system, each zodiac sign is affixed to a house, beginning with the first house, called the Ascendant or rising sign, and then following in zodiacal order in a counterclockwise direction.
